DANISH REPORT ON MERCURY
About the Report
The Danish Mercury Report is a comprehensive assessment of mercury flows to the environment from the territory of the Russian Federation. This document was prepared for the Arctic Council as part of international efforts to evaluate and mitigate mercury pollution in the Arctic region.
The report examines mercury emissions from various industrial sources within Russia, including:
- Non-ferrous metallurgy and mining operations
- Chemical industry and chlor-alkali production
- Waste incineration and coal combustion
- Mercury use in industrial processes and consumer products
- Historical mercury contamination and legacy sites
The assessment provides quantitative estimates of mercury releases into the atmosphere, water bodies, and soil, contributing to the global understanding of mercury pollution patterns and their impact on Arctic ecosystems.
